ASHLEY CAMPBELL

OWNER  |  PRINCIPAL DESIGNER

After spending my childhood re-arranging bedroom furniture every few months and making forts with elaborate floor plans, it seemed only natural to pursue a career in interior design. Since graduating from Vancouver Island University in 2007, I’ve been privileged to work on high-end custom homes, multi-family developments and commercial spaces both on Vancouver Island, western Canada and abroad. My moments away from work are spent savouring family time, exploring local trails and travelling when I get a chance.

– Favourite Chair –
Roar + Rabbit’s swivel chair for West Elm. Tailored, timeless, comfortable and oh-so-pretty.

– Dream Project –
A blissful family cottage where everything is designed to embrace the casual, perfect imperfections of family heirlooms and simple, carefree moments where schedules don’t exist.

– Something I Can’t Live Without
My agenda – I find more order and sense in jotting down notes and my schedule in one book. Something a phone calendar can’t replace!

KRYSTINA DUNBAVIN

INTERIOR DESIGNER  |  COMPUTER RENDERING

I always knew I would work in a career that involved being creative. I was always colouring or drawing, and was the first to pester my parents to repaint or update my room. It was a small introductory design class in high school which really made me strive to become an interior designer. It is an ever-changing and challenging career, but I look forward to growing with Studio AE while learning all the fundamental and wonderful things there is to the design field. When I’m not adding my flare to our projects, I’m usually hanging out with friends and family, planning my next adventure or taking pictures.

– Favourite Chair –
Hans Wegner Wishbone Chair. I love the subtle feeling of this chair. Natural and simple but still playful!

– Dream Project –
An old building restoration which takes an unusual space, such as an old barn, church, firehall etc. and restores it to fit a modern aesthetic while still maintaining the character of the building. Older structures tend to have quirks to them which can test your creativity and lead to unique designs.

– Something I Can’t Live Without
A little bit of sparkle, or a lot… depends on the day.

KELSEY BANTING

INTERIOR DESIGNER

My love for design was evident early, as a child I shared my Dad’s enthusiasm for visits to the home improvement store, the highlight for me was browsing countertop samples and critiquing plumbing fixtures. I was always working on an art project, never more excited than getting a new package of markers with every possible shade of each colour. Upon graduating from VIU’s Interior Design program, I relocated to Vancouver and started my career in Hospitality Design, working on a number of hotel brands.

An Island girl at heart, I have been lucky to have the opportunity to return to the Island and join the terrific team at Studio AE. In my spare time I enjoy travelling, kayaking, shopping and spending time with my family, friends and my dog.

– Dream Project –
A mid-century modern revival. The opportunity to work with a design which has stood the test of time and the challenge of making something new again.
